Transparency on how NerdZap handles your data.

Last Updated: January 2026

This privacy policy explains how nerdzap.com uses data. We believe in privacy and minimizing data collection. We generally do not collect personal data.

1. Hosting & Analytics

We use trusted third-party providers to host our content and understand how people use NerdZap.

  • Cloudflare (Hosting & Security): Our site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process basic request information (such as your IP address) to provide security, prevent DDoS attacks, and measure site performance. This happens at the network edge and is necessary for the site to function securely.
  • Google Analytics: Uses cookies to collect anonymous data such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and general geographic location (e.g., "United Kingdom"). This data is transmitted to and stored by Google.
  • Your Rights: You can opt out of Google Analytics by using the cookie banner on our site or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

2. Contact Forms

If you choose to contact us using the form on our website:

  • Formspree: We use Formspree to power our contact forms. When you submit a message, the data you provide (Name, Email, Topic, and Message) is processed by Formspree to send the email to us. Formspree does not sell your data.

3. Local Storage & Preferences

To improve your experience, NerdZap View uses your browser's Local Storage to remember your configuration settings (such as your selected camera, resolution, and aspect ratio).

  • This data is stored locally on your device.
  • It is never transmitted to NerdZap servers or third parties.
  • It is used solely to restore your preferred settings when you return to the page.

4. Browser-Based Tools (NerdZap View)

Our website hosts tools, such as the NerdZap View capture card viewer, that run entirely within your web browser.

  • Local Processing: Your video and audio feeds are processed locally on your device using WebRTC/WebUSB APIs.
  • Audio Permissions: To provide game sound, the tool requests "Microphone" permissions to access the capture card audio stream. This audio remains local and is never recorded.
  • No Data Transfer: We do not record, store, or transmit your video/audio feeds to any external server.

5. Affiliate Links (Amazon)

NerdZap is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program.

  • What this means: If you click an Amazon link, Amazon may place a cookie on your device to track that you came from us for commission purposes.

6. Advertising (Google AdSense)

We use Google AdSense to display advertisements on NerdZap.

  • Third-Party Vendors: Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
  • Advertising Cookies: Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to NerdZap and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Opt-Out: You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.
